Whether it's to keep up to date with phone notifications or track your efforts in the gym, everyone has a different reason for wearing a smart watch. Between Apple Watches and Garmin fitness trackers, there are plenty of different options out there for shoppers to choose from too - but Amazon has just dropped the price of a Samsung model that makes it super tempting.

In fact, Amazon's new price undercuts Samsung's MSRP by £140. Normally £289 on Samsung's own website, Amazon will let you swipe one for £148.

Available in two different colours, green or cream, the Galaxy Watch 7 is an ideal companion to anyone who owns a Samsung phone. It released in July 2024, so it's barely a year old and still holds up when compared to other competing smart watches.

The model on offer here is the smaller 40mm design, which is much more suited to smaller wrists. That said, the display is still large enough to see everything you need to on a super AMOLED display that can get plenty bright in direct sunlight.

All the features you'd expect from a premium smart watch are here. It communicates with your phone via Bluetooth to deliver notifications, plus it has GPS to track your location when recording running or cycling activities.

If you wear the watch overnight, it's also capable of tracking your sleep cycle to give you better insights on how well rested you are. However, PC Mag indicates that this tracking isn't as accurate as Samsung would like in its review.

Another downside is the battery life. While Garmin watches like the Epix Pro (Gen 2) are capable of lasting for a few weeks between charges, you'll be reaching for a charging cable every night with the one day battery life of the Galaxy Watch 7.

Still, despite its flaws, Amazon customers have given this smart watch a 4.3 star review score overall. One reviewer writes: "Great quality product at a reasonable price. Easy to set up, nice fi and the battery lasts a good while."

Another review reads: "Definitely a better quality watch up from the four. The battery lasts much longer an it has better functionality compared to the four." A third customer says: "Great bit of kit all round."

There are some reviews that give a lower score on Amazon, mostly due to the watch appearing to not be an EU model. However, one customer clarifies that this isn't an issue once you pair it to your phone as it syncs to UK settings from there: "Great watch. Don't be put off with the different countries, set up with your phone and all settings will sync to the UK."

Another review rightfully criticises the battery life: "The Galaxy Watch 7 looks good, easy to set up and connect to your phone, but literally 1 day battery life." If you'd prefer a watch that goes weeks between charges, Garmin's Forerunner 55 watch can last for over a week on a single charge and is down to £134.99 at Decathlon.

Alternatively, the CMF by Nothing Watch Pro 2 is considered a solid option for a more minimalist smart watch experience. It's on sale at Amazon for £53.79, down from £69.
