How many hours does it take to beat Grim Dawn? ›

The choice affects the events of the Forgotten Gods expansion slightly.

You can earn up to 50 Devotion Points throughout Grim Dawn's 3 Difficulty Modes. (With the Ashes of Malmouth expansion, the Devotion Point cap is increased to 55.)

Enemies have always scaled in the game; just slightly differently in the latest patch probably because of the change to make it possible for people to get up to L100 in Normal or Elite difficulties.

b) There is no actual conclusion to the story. Yes, many of the storylines continue and are resolved in the expansions, but there's no "I've done it, all's right with Cairn now" resolution.

Despite being released in 2016, there was a massive patch just before the new year that brought numerous QOL changes, and there's even more content coming in 2024. This is an absolute steal and must-play if you're at all interested in the genre. Dual bilds are very interesting. Items are fun (not like in Diablo4).

It suffices to say that the more armor you have, the less physical damage you will take, but there are some rules as to how armor functions which make it a little deeper than that. Armor in Grim Dawn has both a defense value and an absorption value. By default, your armor absorption is 70% across all your equipment.

There's tons of content included in the base game but to get the most out of Grim Dawn I'd recommend grabbing both of the main DLC's. Ashes of Malmouth and Forgotten Gods both offer new masteries (classes) new campaign content and in the case of forgotten gods new endless content.

Pet stats and damage are increased by Bonus to All Pets affixes and stats, although base attributes (Health, Energy, etc) scale with player level. A players own stats will not affect the summoned pet in any way, aside from allowing you to use items with "Bonus to All Pets".

The level cap is 85, increased to 100 with the Ashes of Malmouth expansion. At levels 2 through 50, you earn 3 skill points per level. At levels 51 through 90, you earn 2 skill points per level.

Grim Dawn can be tackled on three increasingly challenging difficulties: Normal, Elite and Ultimate. Each subsequent difficulty is unlocked by defeating the Final Boss of the game on the previous difficulty (ex. to unlock Elite Difficulty, you must first complete Normal Difficulty).

Veteran mode increases the challenge on Normal difficulty by making monsters stronger and tougher. You will also encounter an increased number of spawns, with a noticeable increase in the spawn rate of champion and hero monsters.

This game feels so much better than Diablo 3 to play through. The graphics might not be as animated or polished but the game play and character creation is easily 1000x better.

Depends on how you play and what's your goal. If you wanna just have some quick fun, rush through the story and DLC, killing some monsters, it's around 30 hours. If you want a deep dive into the story, side missions, exploring, lore and maxing your character, it's 60+ hours.

Grim Dawn is definitely worth it! Normal is easy, with some difficulty curves thrown in with the out-of-way-areas and dungeons that are outside the story progression. Veteran is essentially normal with harder enemies but better drops and faster leveling.
